Just like you, a Masonic Lodge has a family tree. As a lodge develops its membership it is often the case that members petition to create a daughter lodge to address growing membership, geographical needs or other requirements.

In the past London based lodges often setup daughter lodges in the provinces to allow them to meet in countryside settings, at weekends for example.
